Did Someone Say Garlicky Honey-Shrimp?

My favorite thing about cooking I discovered is to not ever really follow a recipe, think of the flavors I enjoy (mine obviously stem from my Indian/Asian roots), envision it and make it up as you go.

The first things I always pick out are garlic, onion and a ginger paste. I cooked this while spending holidays with my in-laws and let me tell you it was a hit. And it pairs wonderfully with the risotto recipe I posted right before this. If you’re doubtful, just ask my mother in law.

So here’s what you will need : I made this to serve two people, but you can double up as you go.

1 1/2 lbs of cooked medium sized shrimp
3 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons ginger paste
Regular oil or olive oil spray
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey

Some chopped green onion- a cup
Salt to taste
Optional – some red chili pepper flakes to make it spicy

How to – Start by spraying a pan with the oil-spray, sauté garlic, ginger and green onion on a medium flame for 3 mins, and then add the shrimp. The shrimp is cooked so you won’t have to deal with it being on there for too long. After about 5 mins, add in soy sauce, salt and honey.

Cover with a lid and let it cook for 2 more mins and then add the red chili flakes if you’d like. Voila! You are done.

Here’s a picture from when I made it and served it on the risotto, and there some arugula on top, trust me it makes everything better. But you could eat this on rice, or on a salad too.

All you seafood lovers out there, hope you like this one!

This delicious hot meal, always with a glass of wine, duh.
